Nobody Tag Me again. Please.

Published by Melody under Memes

Yes, it’s another meme. Instead of going “ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHH” like I’m very tempted to do (try it seriously, scream at the top of your voice, really, it’s therapeutic) I’m going to look at the +ve side of life. The last meme I did was (an unending) meme on the number 4. Now it’s number 3. Hopefully the day will come when I have no meme to do at all?.

Damn it doesn’t work…. hang on….

“ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHH”

OK, feel better now. Will humor Peeyush & complete the darn meme.

1. Three things that scare me:
• Rats – seriously. I can take lizards & cockroaches. But rats. EEECCH. Once in another world I saw a rat & jumped up on the bed in the middle of the night & was yelling at the top of my voice until my roommate jumped on the bed too – and slapped me. Yes, that did kinda stop me from yelling.
• People critiquing my writing. Which possibly explains the fact that the stuff I write which is really important to me - I show to almost no one.
• The thought of losing my cell phone. (God forbid!)

2. Three people that make me laugh:
• My dad. He’s kinda crazy. The type to crack jokes at funerals. He’s got a very unique irritating yet perfectly hilarious type of humor that I can’t live without.
• The cast of ‘Friends’. And that’s all SIX of them (so can I skip a couple of questions now??)

And seriously men, tell me you don’t like that pic.

3. Three things I don’t really like:
Ok, this is easy.
• Memes.
• Getting up really early to go to work. Getting up early for anything else is ok, but… waaaaah, can I go back to bed now??
• People who give me missed calls for no reason. (yes, am talking about YOU).

4. Three things I don’t understand:
• The stock market. Ranjan, pls. don’t be upset. It’s not like I haven’t tried. Ok, maybe I haven’t tried very much. But seriously, it seems like mostly bull to me.
• Bloggers who blog for hits. On second thoughts, I do understand that. I get it but it just seems, well, sad.
• How some politicians sleep at night.

5. Three things I’m doing right now:
• Answering this meme
• Answering this meme
• Answering this meme (what kinda dumbass question is this???)

6. Three things I want to do before I die:
• Make a good confession
• Tell everyone I love that I love them
• Have my will in place (assuming of course I have some assets to distribute)

7. Three things I can do:
• Tilt my head ever so slightly and flirt ever so innocently.
• Dance the whole night
• Eat Pizza every day for days

Have done all three, so I know.

8. Three ways to describe my personality:
• The life of the party!
• Butterfly (some people think so anyway)
• A complete Narcissistic

9. Three things I can’t do:
• Ride a bicycle. Never did learn. But did get my parents to buy me a cycle all the same. I mean, all the other kids had ‘em. Humph.
• Be bothered to explain myself to people who don’t matter to me.
• Ignore something that tugs my heart. Am completely a heart person, rarely listen to my head, if at all.

10. Three things I think you should listen to:
• Your heart (well I would say that now, wouldn’t I?)
• Birds singing
• Laughter

11. Three things I never listen to:
• Guilt Pangs. If I’ve truly repented & confessed, I don’t need to be guilty of anything.
• Satanic Music. Don’t get me started on this puh-lease.
(Now all you atheists reading my blog, I AM NOT PREACHING, I’m just answering a blasted meme, so BACK OFF)
• People who go tangent to points. Really, if you can’t keep to a point, then don’t expect me to listen. Now when I do it, that’s another story.

12. Three things I’d like to learn:
• To be completely silent for long periods of time.
• Ride a bike. I mean a BIG bike, like a shiny red Ducati. Alternatively will settle for riding behind sexy man in leather jacket riding the shiny red Ducati.
• Pottery. In fact I’m planning to take a class when I get back from Oz.

13. Three favorite foods:
• Italian anything
• Chocolate anything
• Potatoe anything
(and one more though it’s not necessary)
• Junk anything

14. Three beverages I drink regularly:
(And I expect a man who’s gone out with me even once to remember this)
• Regular water, room temperature. (no mineral crap for me, please)
• Virgin Colada with no ice.
• Sprite with no ice.

15. Three shows I watched as a kid:
• Fireball XL5 (I can still sing you the theme song if you like)
• Spiderman (I can still sing you the theme song if you like)
• He-Man (I can still sing you the theme song if you like)

(I also watched Famous Five (which I can also sing) & Flying Robot (can’t remember the tune, but can say “Johnny”)

(and waaaaaah to the fact that none of you want me to sing. I’m pretty good. Really. Really. waaaaahhh)

16. Three people I’m tagging (to do this):
Because I’m thinking these three will NEVER do it & the meme will die here
(hehehehahahahhehhehehhahahahhaha < - my version of wicked laugh)

Amit Varma
Saket
Madman. Don’t know this guy at all, but apparently he’s famous or something (and I’m assuming famous or something people don’t have time for idiotic bloody memes like these. Which doesn’t say much for me, but well.)

Not another darn meme.

Published by Melody under Memes

Would rather write a post titled “Why I do not like Memes” or another one “Please do not tag me”. Unfortunately, I have to do this seemingly endless meme based of the number four. Why it was chosen I don’t know (maybe because it was the number between 3 and 5?). hmm.

Four Reasons why I do not like Memes (not part of the original meme)
• It annoys you when you feel you “have to” blog about something when not really inclined to
• It forces you to divulge all sorts of information about yourself leaving you with two options (a) divulge when you didn’t want to (b) lie. I don’t like either option
• Most memes are usually stupid and make you do stupid things like “Go count the number of songs on your iPod” or something equally ridiculous that I have no time for.
• Every meme ends with “Tag – other people” and since I hate being tagged, I hate tagging others (because surely there are others who think like I do).

Anyway, all that (somewhat) out of my system, let me give this meme a go:

Four jobs you’ve had in your life
• Assistant Editor (will not mention the name of the magazine as I fear the mighty Google)
• Gofer (Seriously. That’s where I learned to multitask)
• Clothes-Ironer. Ok, not a job job, but I did charge people money in my house to iron their clothes hence it should count. So there.
• The job of writing about four jobs I’ve had in such a manner that I don’t lie and yet don’t really reveal any information on any jobs I’ve really had. Hmm.

Four jobs you wish you had
Lovely, SOOO much easier! I pretty much want to do everything anyway.
• Writer. Not that I don’t already write. Just that someone would actually have to pay me to write. And hopefully someone else would pay to read.
• Male-Model Co-ordinator, so I could meet lots of cute guys. aahhh.
• Gourmet Chef, so I could go (moving hands in chopping motion) and cut long things up really quickly. Also wish I could whip up a dish out of seemingly waste materials. Or that I could have a bite of something and be able to define every single thing in it.
• Astronaut. Hairstylist. Artist. Astronomer. Singer. Dancer. Actor. Dramatist.

6 Weird Things about Me

Published by Melody under Memes

And just so you know, didn’t dream up this post, was tagged by the dude who calls himself Zoxcleb & blogs at Wall Street.

Necessary introduction being made, let’s cut straight to the main course (not much of a soup or starters person, but that’s just a fact, not something weird) -

(06) I like to sit with my feet crossed over. Some people think I’m into Yoga & doing Padmasana (the lotus pose) or some variation on it. Not at all. I’m just used to it. It’s supposedly the most correct position for the body to be most comfortable in (don’t ask me where I got that from, it’s just something that’s stuck in my head). You’ll find me (depending on how close I am to you) sitting in your house, your car & yes, even your computer chair in this position. Yes, you don’t need a webcam to know I’m doing it right now ;)

(05) I usually don’t talk concise. I usually talk like I’m writing a book. There’s usually a prologue & an epilogue too. I say “usually” because there are times I’m quiet (believe it or not). These are extreme times - when I’m either very sad or very happy. When I’m very sad, I don’t usually talk about it. When I’m very happy, I like to savor the moment without talk.

(04) I can move my nostrils at will. If in a swimming pool with me, you’ll be excused for thinking me the great white shark. Ok, great white sharks do NOT have nostrils, I just thought I’d add that bit because it sounded nicer than just saying “I can move my nostrils”. Did you not read point 05???

(03) I’m very pro-life (& I don’t mean only anti-abortion). I really mean pro-life. I think life is meant to be lived to the hilt, abundantly & full of very good thing (which excludes all things immoral & illegal). Once when I was a little little girl, my sister, a neighbour and I killed a slug in our building garden. We all felt so bad that we found a matchbox, dug a hole & buried it, complete with a little cross on top (made with two twigs we tied together) and prayers at the grave. Haven’t willfully killed anyone since.

(02) I love going to Naturals Ice Cream because they have the best Natural ice creams in Mumbai (& in the world according to some) like Anjeer, Lychee etc etc. The thing is, I go to Naturals & only order the very un-natural Chocolate Chip (Waffle Cone). Everytime, like DHL, without fail. It’s seriously amazing, trust me.

(01) I love to sing. I don’t know if I’m any good at it but I really love to sing. So I’ll sing on the road (even if I’m walking completely alone), sometimes I even move my head in a hip-hop way to the tune in my head (you thought I only hear voices?!). I sing along the music in the car - my sister used to find this extremely annoying as did someone else who was close to me once. I sing in Karaoke clubs - come on, that’s what they’re there for. I sing in church, at parties, at work or “just”. The weirdest thing of all, is that I do NOT sing in the shower. Go figure.

Weird enough to put me into a straight jacket? Some people think so even without reading this list. The epilogue is over.

Meme passed onto:

Dev
Alex
Noojes
Ashish
Reshma &
Apy

Whose names if you look at from top to bottom spell DANARA. Ok, enough of weirdness.

Darn, almost forgot! Meme also passed onto Harsha for getting GOLD twice here already!

20 Random Facts about me.

Published by Melody under Memes

Thx to Gypsy, have been tagged (arrrghhh, not in the mood for one of these right now) but will be a sport (see what a nice person I am?) & go ahead with it:

(20) Once during sports day in my lower secondary school I received enough points to get first place trophy. The school had called my dad to hand it over to me. I was standing on the top center of the tiered platform & I must have kinda lost my balance (I was always a hyper lil thingie) and ended up dropping the trophy right as my father handed it over to me. Ok, so these things happen. What was really naughty of me though is that I immediately yelled “DAD!!!” & nicely passed the buck to my poor innocent father!

(19) Know the NATO phonetic alphabet completely by heart. Had a friend and we’d write letters to each other using this. Yes, OK, I was quite bekaar then.

(18) My favorite of all fruits is the Apple. Next are Bananas. Think someone may have tried to teach me A is for Apple, B is for Bananas and never got down to anything else. No, I do not like Custard apples.

(17) Once when I was little & at a birthday party, I was a bit bored, so to amuse myself I found a pair of scissors and began to cut the dress of a girl who was sitting in front of me. Yes, my mum spanked the living daylights out of me.

(16) My cousin David & I used to mimic acrobats when we were little… we called ourselves the “Super Stars”.

(15) I saw the cut head of a dog in a plastic bag once when walking home from school. I later found out that it was done to sell the meat in roadside stalls… I have never eaten in ANY roadside stall since (the noise & the pollution in this city also helps)

(14) I consider people to be Dog-People or Cat-People. I am a Dog-Person. And as a good Dog-Person, I don’t like Cats. It’s kinda like a Australia V/S England Ashes thing. You choose your side and stick by it.

(13) I have perfect 6/6 vision. But as a child my sis got specs and I wanted them too. So from time to time I wore her specs in the hope I’d spoil my eyes enough to get specs. Mercifully, got over the craving for specs without spoiling my eyes.

(12) I was a tomboy growing up. I’d come home with bruises every single day. My mum used to tell me that if I had so many marks on my feet no boy would want to look at them. Boy was she wrong ;)

Once I even climbed a coconut tree, via the grooves made by the coconut fruit walas. I climbed to second floor level. I would have kept going, except I looked down & suddenly panicked. I started crying (yeah, wasn’t a total tomboy) and had to wait there till my dear father came to rescue me.

(11) There is a set of two speed-breakers outside my school which I consider mine. I was in third grade & my sis had gone to the Bombay High School Sports representing our senior school. Hence she didn’t come pick me up as she usually did. I decided, what the heck, I’ll cross the road myself. I don’t really remember anything but was told that I was hit by an Ambassador car.

I woke up in a hospital and was unashamed and in fact quite glad that I apparently was going to get some days off school. They subsequently put speed-breakers there. I quite earned them I think.

(09) I’ve liked all sorts of boys, in every size & shape (& pls. don’t read too much into that). It’s not looks that attract me to men. I mainly like intellectual guys whom I can talk to. And as cliched as it sounds, I love guys who make me laugh.

(08) Once for a birthday, almost everyone I knew bought me shampoo. I was very upset & wondered what sort of hint my friends were giving me. The next birthday I got only Deo’s. Changed my friends after that ;) J/K abt the last part.

(07) I like to eat everything that’s bad for breath - love garlic, love onions, love cod-liver oil tables. In fact bite & eat them. Some friends think I’m nuts, but I like the taste. Go figure.

(06) One lady I knew once told me that to clear my then very-acne-prone skin, I should drink a glass full of my morning urine. I pooh-poohed (no pun intended) the idea but got up with a gigantic pimple in the center of my forehead and thought anything was worth trying to get rid of it.

So off I went to the loo (with a crystal glass, smart me). I almost took a sip, but was so turned off by the whole thing that I threw away the pee (& the glass!). I now see a dermi (see, there are smart alternatives for everything).

(05) I never drink alcohol (not even wine/beer) & also have never even had a single puff of a ciggy. Many people don’t believe me till they hang out with me enough to know it’s true. I don’t know why it’s such a big deal to some people but it is. Some say I’ve not “experienced” something. I say, there are a lot of things I’ve not experienced & am not inclined to (like being bashed on the head by a falling tree for example). On the other hand, there are tons of things I’ve haven’t experienced & I want to. Life is full of choices. Even the making of good choices is a choice.

(04) Technically I have only one sibling - my elder sis. Always lamented the lack of a brother, so went out and got me some :) Now have several brothers. When younger used to tie ‘Rakhi’ on a guy who stayed close by. He moved away & we lost touch completely. At present there are 5 guys who I consider my brothers: Two are priests, one’s in South India & two more here, Eli & baby Ajay.

(03) I’m all for extreme sports. Never been bungee jumping but am dying to. My doc says I shouldn’t because I have a bad back (my tail bone slipped while playing basket ball in tenth grade) but I still want to. I also want to try sky-diving at least once.

(02) Oh gosh… am I almost done??? Tons of other things: I am a complete romantic. I love surprises. I love buying people gifts for no reason at all. I cannot sleep if I’ve fought with someone I love. I usually try to make up the same day itself. I love purple orchids & long stemmed (de-thorned) red roses. If I have to buy flowers, I buy people potted flowers as I can’t bear to give gifts that don’t last. I love my family. I love my friends. I love my life. And I totally love the God who gave it to me.

(01) One thing I say & believe is “Ultimately the only thing that matters in life is your relationship with God”

Not so bad after all! I actually enjoyed that. Will pass the baton onto (without targeting anyone I’ve tagged in the past):

Akshay
Arjun
Gavin
Gopal
Jo
Mwah &
Shriram

(7 is the Biblical number for perfection, just another random fact ;) )

Thursday’s Tag Time

Published by Melody under Books, Memes

Dear Alex decided to do a tag on me…. been a quiet week thus far & nothing happening to blog, so might as well give it a go:

Total number of books I own - Waaaay too many to count. Each room has a library at home… all book freaks :)

The last book I bought - “From The Angel’s Blackboard - The Best of Fulton Sheen”, in fact I blogged about on June 9th, 2005

Last book I read - Also bought the entire Malory Towers set that day… and have finished 2 out of 6 so far, so I guess the answer to this would be: “Second Form in Malory Towers” (yeah, now I sound like a goonk).

Five Books that mean a lot to me…
(01) The Bible - For obvious reasons (Read Jn 1:1 if not so obvious)
(02) The Life of Christ - by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
(03) Power in Praise - by Merlin Carothers
(04) Pride & Prejudice - by Jane Austen (my favorite fiction Author, love all her work)
(05) The Secret Garden - by Frances Hodgson Burnett (my favorite book when I was growing up, still something I read from time to time to remind me that impossible is not a word)

And now to pass it on….. :D

Here you go Ajay

Rishi

& Lothario

June 17th: Added links everywhere, so that you’re free to browse through / check reviews. Recommend every one of the books listed here (except Malory Towers, if you’re more grown up than I) Must reads :)
