Melody on August 16th, 2008

I don’t know how quite to write this post, except to just say it - I’m closing down thevoiceinmyhead.

Why?

Well, the Lord Jesus Christ just spoke to me (and I can understand that those of you who don’t believe in God or communication with God will not get where I’m coming from, but well.) and He said, “Come”

So, I’m leaving - like Peter, who brought his boat to the shore and then left everything to follow Him (cf Luke 5:11)

This whole thing is kinda weird - even for someone like me, who back in 2002 just upped and went to an Ashram where I was for 2 years - you didn’t know? well, read this (ha! I’m leaving and can’t cut the blogging instinct to link!)

Anyway as I was saying, this is not something I was expecting - in fact as you’ll know I’ve just re-themed, not only this blog, but even my travel blog (re-themed today itself - for the first time since I started it in 2005 - I mean seriously) and I even confirmed a guest blogger to travel write on that. And, and, and, and. So many ideas, so many things I thought I wanted to do.

I love to blog - and it’s weird, I actually started blogging when I left for the Ashram, as a way for family and friends to remain connected to me. But I guess there comes a time in one’s life when one must prioritize.

He’s spoken - and now I don’t want to do anything but follow Him.

I know this is where I need to be - away from everything worldly for sometime - the internet, the parties, so many things that are not necessarily bad - but have been eating up way too much of my time - which I will now spend with Him, figuring out where He wants me to go.

I perhaps will be back, perhaps not. I’ll know when I know.

Until then, thank you, every single last one of you, it’s been fun. If I can leave you with one last piece of me, it should be this - whatever you do, do it passionately. I love the Lord Jesus Christ - and I’ve been too lukewarm too long. But, no more.

Be still, my soul, be still!
what you are going through is God’s will.
You are in His hands and under His care,
so be still, my soul, be still!

Hush, oh my heart, just hush!
for there is no reason to rush.
Just follow His will, belong to Him still,
and hush, dear heart, just hush!

  1. Hey Mell, long time no see. It’s been a long time since I commented here…. even though I’ve been visiting regularly. This post’s a bit of a sudden shock - really unexpected I don’t think I can say I understand why and how - but I’m not one to question.

If you really do decide to shut down - I figured I might as well get in one last comment…

I’ll miss reading your ‘insights’ into life - most of all I’ll miss the husband for mell series. :) Things change - and there is always a reason. Thanks for everything - all the posts, all the fun - and God bless you.

  2. You must do what you have to do. You have a lovely heart and I will miss you.

    Much love,
    SwB

  3. Will miss you on the internet.

    God Bless you
    Mario

  4. awww…

    no….

  5. …and then she was gone. Just like that. Poof! [btw, I finished the Goldie story coz' you wanted to know how it ended.]

  6. I guess it is impossible to rationalize with someone who is completely disillusioned by the concept of a personal God. Someone who preachs humility and yet, is arrogant enough to announce actual “communication” with the higher powers.

Otherwise, I probably would have said “stay”. Because, loony as you do sound in this post, I enjoyed reading your blog.

  7. God just said “come” right ?
He did not say “stop blogging”!

I am pretty sure god would be pretty bored soon and ask you to start blogging back again!

  8. whats “come” mean? Are you off to become a nun? are you joining the peace corp? How about some specifics..that post is as clear as mud

  9. oh that is just typical. I only just recently discovered your blog (thru your tweeting) and really enjoyed reading your posts. It’s one of very few blogs I actually enjoy reading and now you go and decide to disappear. Well you clearly have your reasons and I will miss your posts and the positive energy you bring.

Hopefully God will get sick of hearing your stories so you may one day get back to blogging. Take care Mel.

  10. Ouch, this is so sad to hear, will miss you and your ramblings, but listen to the voice in your head and go wherever it takes you, best of luck in whatever you do,

  11. Everyone needs time apart with the voices in their head. Hope you sort through it and come back with peace.

    Take Care :)

  12. After all the hype, the newspaper snippets , and the press coverage and blogger meets publicity ….
    you are calling it quits……??

Must be a damn good reason……!
    Besides…………..

  13. Damn!. Reading your blog since over a year and honestly, I loved reading it. I get too many bad news lately and here’s one more.

I wish you best of luck in whatever you do mel. Take care

  14. God Bless You Mel…

  15. Will miss reading your blog but I am sure God has much better plan for you.

  16. Was good reading your blog Melody.
Any ways, here’s hoping the best for you.

  17. Was a pleasure reading your blog… some of the posts really touched me (I distinctly remember the punctured bike post)

Farewell… and If you ever decide to start blogging again, google will make sure I stumble upon it :)

  18. Oh no….this was by far the most intersting of all the blogs in the world!!!

  19. You have to follow what your instinct tells you to follow. Leave the blog behind, don’t leave the friends you made. Good luck.

  20. Hzve been a fan of ur writings and will really miss them.
Feeling really bad that you have stopped blogging as some of your articles have really been fun to read.

But I guess if you are leaving blogging, then you must have had a pretty good reason to do so. so all the best or whatever u seek to accomplish.

and i hope ur spend ur time well, hope the “come” that lord Jesus said was to do ameliorate the society rather than just doing church work.

  21. Checked my feeds after a long time and saw this. Sad to see you go but happy to see you following your heart. Bless you for that!

I hope (against hope) that this is temporary and that you will be back chronicling your daring exploits in the world of men.

    Take care.

  22. Hey Melody,

Will drop by your blog once in a while to see if you change your mind and start blogging again.

You and the voice in your head will be greatly missed.

    Much Luck, :)

    Hezron.

    Hello,
meeting you in Bombay was a very nice experience, a modern young woman, so funny and attractive, and so deep and spiritual at the same time.
Wish you all the best in your plans.

  34. Hi Melody,

All the best!! Know that you will do well in all the endeavors that you set out to achieve…

  35. I follow a different religious path (Krishna and Hinduism). So can understand what you mean by “communication with God”.

I will recommend one book to you.

    “Christianity and Krishna Consciousness”.

That book changed my perspective about a lot of things (in both faiths). You can get this at ISKCON centers. Its a dialogue between followers of both faiths trying to find similarities and reconcile the differences.

If you don’t get and it and are interested in reading it, you can mail me your address. I will get my copy delivered to you (of course, with my address for sending it back).

    All the best in life.

  36. Hey,
Whats this? Didn’t get you completely. I was compelled to comment.

  37. Hey,

remember me- the fan from South Africa?
Really sad that youre not going to be bloggin anymore.
Enjoyed having your thoughts keep me company during study breaks.

    All the best.

  38. Hey mel… back here after a long time only to see you’ve left :(

I am a tad disappointed to see the voice in my head stop sounding, but the path you’ve chosen is one that very few get to choose.

from my heart, i hope that you get the best in life, and your chosen path leads you to fulfill your destiny. And if you ever happen to come back, do let me know. It will be wonderful to interact with you again :)

May God be with you in your journey!

    Peace
    Ashish/Calvin/The Empty Head

  39. Huh - I just saw this… but hey, I think the interpretation you made was wrong… He meant, come see me in Rio de Janeiro! Duh! I told u this too. Get ur tix sorted… see ya soon :)
