I don’t know what it is about the new Tennis Racket shaped Electric (supposedly 1500 volts) fly swappers, but those things just give me the creeps.
Every company that sells them admits that, “the net will become hot when activated, so please keep away from your skin, and from children” (or some such similar disclaimer) but yet, I see people gloriously swiping these things about in public.
Why couldn’t we just stick to the non-electric regular shaped fly swatters (you know, the ones that don’t look like something Sania Mirza would be caught with?).
Maybe this website has the answer to that question:

I’ve seen some crazy Russian dude on TV take a jolt to his tongue from one of these and fly across the room - it’s definitely nasty

Oh, so that’s what those funky looking things I saw in Bombay are! I was wondering if the city’s gone tennis crazy or what all of a sudden!
And while I’m no Nikola Tesla, I have to admit that 1.5 kV does sound more like a Stun Gun than a Bug Zapper!

Saw some of those bad boys in Bangalore before I left. If it takes a monster machine like that to kill mosquitos, imagine how big the machine will have to be to kill a tiger!!!!

@ Arnold: And seriously… you should see these people swinging them around most happily. The other day was seated in a fancy Alfresco restaurant and there seemed to be one person who was designated big zapper swinging his racket all about the place. Sheesh.
@ NewYorkDude: Wouldn’t want to imagine - the mozzy zappers are scary enough to me.
