For you, Z

Published by Melody under "Dear Diary" type entries

From ‘Little Women’, chapter 36:

(She) could not reason upon or explain the faith that gave her courage and patience to give up life, and cheerfully wait for death. Like a confiding child, she asked no questions, but left everything to God and nature, Father and Mother of us all, feeling sure that they, and they only, could teach and strengthen heart and spirit for this life and the life to come.

~ in memory of another little woman, just 23, who lived, who loved and who also left everything to God.

Z, like everyone else who knew you, I love you and I will always cherish the memory of you.

Electrical Killers

Published by Melody under Random Observations

I don’t know what it is about the new Tennis Racket shaped Electric (supposedly 1500 volts) fly swappers, but those things just give me the creeps.

Every company that sells them admits that, “the net will become hot when activated, so please keep away from your skin, and from children” (or some such similar disclaimer) but yet, I see people gloriously swiping these things about in public.

Why couldn’t we just stick to the non-electric regular shaped fly swatters (you know, the ones that don’t look like something Sania Mirza would be caught with?).

Maybe this website has the answer to that question:

My boss got this for us a few months ago and we have had fun ever since

That’s where I’m going to be from the 17th - 20th of this month (tomm through Sunday).

Mum & I were (super) blessed to get the opportunity to meet & talk with Joyce Meyers & Brian Houston in person, at a small gathering earlier today. Am really looking forward to the blessings the Lord has in store for me!!

Nostaligic reasoning

Published by Melody under Those were the days!

My mother says I was always a happy little child.

She says right from the time I was a little baby, I used to get up with a big smile and hardly cry at all. Except if I had to go to the loo (which is how they knew apparently). But other than that, all smiles.

That all being true, I guess I must have had a really hard day at work when this pic was taken (age 2) with my elder sis :) (and isn’t it just the cutest thing, that even my baby bottle was longer than my head?!)

I’m back! (and there’s a WHOLE lot of me. sigh.)

Seriously, a WHOLE lot. I’ve had to empty half my wardrobe because I just don’t fit into most of my stuff anymore.

Blame it on the Christmas sweets. Or Blame it on the binging on all the fabulous food at all the fabulous parties the past season had to offer. Or blame it on the rain.

I don’t know.

Just don’t blame it on me.

Because I honestly don’t know how it happened.

I don’t know how I went from a size 20 waist (ok, that was a whiiiiiile back) to a size 30 waist (ok, maybe 30 something, less than 40 anyway, so there).

So here I am, de-cluttering.

No metaphors really, just taking stuff out of my closets & putting them into an ever increasingly full suitcase.

Sigh.

One faces lots of dilemmas when junking old clothes:
(01) Like ought you to keep keep the clothes you Totally love, even though they don’t fit you anymore? Especially when there’s sentiment attached to them?
(02) What about the clothes, that you almost (almost) fit into, when you breathe out deeply, suck in your stomach completely (ok, as much as you can) and then, they almost (almost) just fit?
(03) What should you do with the old clothes? Vinnies? Call up friends? (I prefer doing the latter first & then it’s off to Vinnies usually)
