There I am getting a pedicure and chatting about inane things with my pedicurist when she springs this bit of wisdom upon me:

What mobile phone are you using? Is it a Nokia? They can use it to bomb you

Wha-huh??

Sorry? What? I didn’t understand what you just said?

Repeats earlier statement. And with these added goodies.

It was in yesterday’s Mid-Day. And on the news today. Some cell phone numbers were given too. If your number contains any of those numbers, you should change your sim card immediately.

Ok seriously; WHA-HUH??? My eyebrows are SKY high. Trying to figure out if there is indeed any sense behind all this blabber:

What article in the Mid-Day?

Yes it was there. And you know, my aunties neighbour, his number was there and he changed his number immediately

Ok. Fine I’ll check online. But I really think you’ve got all of this mixed up somehow. I’m sure there’s no need to worry at all.

Today anyone of us can die at anytime, we cannot be sure.

I try to placate her.

Yes, I guess so. Which is why we should keep our affairs in order and be a peace with everyone I guess. But I still think it’s no reason to live in fear.

Living in fear. No, no, that would be the most scary thing. No, baba!

Inside my head, I smile at the irony.

Later when I check the Mid-Day online, I find no reference whatsoever to what she may have been referring to. Anyone want to fill me in?

  1. The nokia battery is the most efficient batteries since it contains 60% of the total chemical composition with 85% enriched uranium, which is weapon grade. Terrorists exploit this by aiming a neutron gun towards your phone which instantly triggers a nuclear fission reaction releasing enough energy to blow up a roof. Only batteries with certain code numbers are endangered. I’ll let you know the numbers..

  2. I guess she was talking about this

Nokia warns about 46 mln Matsushita made batteries:

HELSINKI, Aug 14 (Reuters) - The world’s top cellphone maker Nokia said on Tuesday 46 million batteries used in its phones could overheat and the company would replace them for no cost to consumers.

Nokia said the Nokia-branded “BL-5C” batteries were made by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. between December 2005 and November 2006. “(The batteries) could potentially experience overheating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge,” Nokia said in a statement.

Nokia said 100 overheating cases of batteries in question have been reported globally, but no serious injuries were reported. The “BL-5C” is Nokia’s most widely used battery and several suppliers have made more than 300 million of them for Nokia. ((Reporting by Tarmo Virki; Editing by David Cowell))

  4. @ Virgo: Your second comment seems to further what Hezron is saying? What is all this about Terrorists then?

@ Hezron: Thanks! Is this your first time here? Either way, an official welcome to TVIMH ~ cya around more often!

  5. I guess i’ve been following your blog for more than 1.5 years now.

I landed here through ajay’s blog. And had landed on ajay’s through google.

Your writing has a very positive tone, which is quite refreshing as most bloggers just crib and vent out their frustrations.

This is the main reason i read your bog. Keep it up :)

And ya thanks for the official welcome.

    take care.

  6. @ Hezron: You’ve been following my blog for more than 1.5 years & you only just decided to comment!!

Well glad you have, it’s good to meet the people who read my blog.

I’ll keep the positivity coming (that’s what I’m all about!). You tc too.

  7. well.. u know the reason…. btw, heard a queer one yesterday…. abt some virus infecting your phone at midnight!! wonder how’s dat possible!!

  8. @ Sam: Now that’s a new one!! Wonder if my pedicurist is aware of that one, lol.

I still don’t have any clue as to the whole terrorist thing. Virgo hasn’t replied to my comment #4 and I can find no reference online.

  9. It is only the BL-5C series of batteries that are effected by this.
Check your battery code for this. If it isn’t so then don’t bother.

If it is then you can check the possibility of it being corrupt by entering the 26 Character code at the bottom of the page.

  10. @ Ajay: Have a BL-5C battery and so I did check my code, showed that my battery is not among those required to be replaced.

Nevertheless, am still not sure about the whole terrorism angle? See my comment #9

  11. nice feet :)
