Yes, it’s definitely the longest title to a post I’ve ever had on the blog to date.
But that’s what the voice in my head is pondering at this very minute. Just read an abstract rant off Anumita’s blog (what? you’ve not read her blog? She’s brilliant, go over there immediately!) wherein she talks about how indispensable time is.
I have often commented to my close friend Del (with whom I discuss the passing of time regularly) how amazingly fast the recent years have just gone by. I completely understand why the verb ‘Fly’ is associated with time.

Though it wasn’t always this way. Time seemed to move slower when I was younger. Months were longer, years seemed infinite.
On the flight home from Sydney I was blessed to have the seat next to me empty (it’s a really long flight, extra leg room is always a good thing). When we were taking off however I saw a little girl sitting with her parents in the center aisle straining to look out of my window.
“Would you like to sit next to the window for take off?” I asked her. She nodded her head, jumped right over (doll in hand) and became best friends with me instantly.
Subsequently we chatted a little - you know the usual - “How old are you? My you’re a big girl then!” type conversation. It led up to this:
Me: Do you go to school?
Little Girl: Yes, I’m in the second standard
Me (knowing that this is May & children usually go to higher grades after May holidays): So when will you go to the third standard?
Little Girl (stretching her hands wide): After many many years
I couldn’t help chuckling out loud. Her mum stole a glance sideways. I’m sure she wondered if the little angel had inadvertently revealed some family secrets. I know I did when I was little. Tons of them - in fact could never shut my mouth up.
But that was (stretching my hands wide) many many many years ago.

Time is like very sticky molasses, it stretches only when most inconvenient. So it lasts forever when you’re meeting your unpleasant maiden aunt and curls into a ball when you have a deadline to meet.
But I entirely agree that in our memories, summer holidays lasted for ever and ever.

Time surely flies when you grow up….i think this is why childhood is the most cherished time of our lives.
Sadly, we all realise this in hindsight
P.S: I have come up with a post on the law & order scenario in India, will appreciate if you take a glance at it

Okay time for a PJ:
Why does time fly?
Answer: Because some people try to kill it…
That has relevance to ur post because as kids, we had a lot of time at our hands n we killed it… Nowadays, we hardly have time on our hands and time flies…

reminds me those golden years of my life in grade 10th , 11th and 12th. boy wish life was likea remote control. you can keep rewinding the good moments, fast forwards the bad moments and think about eating an ice cream in a slow motion, it would last a whole day.

@ Rossoneri: You went to college?! Stop showing off!
@ Ashish: Will be right over!
@ Born a Libran: It’s your first time here, so I should probably say my traditional ‘Welcome to TVIMH!’ to you. Instead, I’m plagued by the desire to say “You put the P back into PJs”. Hmmm. That was a TVIMH original incidentally
Oh yeah, almost forgot, Welcome to TVIMH! Cya around!
@ Tulan: I see Adam Sandler & you have something in common. Not surprised!

Oh you are so correct. Even I’ve always wondered how time goes by faster with passing age and childhood memories are all too long and so many
and like J.A.P, the vacation tales are too long and too big
and yes I used to always spill the beans and never ever shut up when I was a kid, guess such kids grow up to be bloggers, what say?

Lol, maybe just maybe!! Definetely a greater part of bloggers I’d agree

that funny u remind of adam sandler and the movie CLICK. never seen but the thing i wrote i remembered a long time from a comic book called ARCHIES PALS N GALS where they stuck a conversation between archie and his pal Jughead about how time goes fast while watching TV and then they are like how this remote control would change everything. Great comic books.

The movies, they tell me,
In our final moments, what we see.
I wondered why they say so,
Mel’s theory, make my thoughts flow…
… I grow older, Time moves faster,
When oldest I get,
Time is at its fastest best.
On my deathbed, it flashes to me,
In my mind’s eye I can see,
My entire lifetime replayed in just a moment,
Coz time is running so fast,
As I endure this deathly torment.

Actually, I happened to have come here earlier… Back when your photo came with Rahul Dravid on rediff… Great player… not captaincy material though the pic was cute…

@ Born a Libran: Is that right? My apologies! Still love Dravid though, he’s really a good sort..

Time does seem to fly these days unfortunately. Ever wonder why I’m returning to your blog after so many days (months)?
And yes, I guess you aren’t getting any younger.
