Further to this, took Ajay out for dinner. We finally decided on Gondolas (after riding halfway to Juhu & back).

Gondola is the restaurant just next to Soul Fry, the venue of our last open blog meet & seeing it did bring back all the meet memories!

Gondola has been a place I’ve frequented over the years. There used to be a time (waaaay back when I was in college) that I used to go there as often as once a week - often with a different guy each time
I’m convinced the management thinks there’s something shady about me, lol!
Anyway the place has been recently renovated & prices increased (as to be expected after a renovation). The steaks are now on an average of INR 250/- We decided to Chinese food though as neither of us felt like going through an entire steak. Aj’s review here.

Sunday had brunch with gang to celebrate Geh’s birthday (now belated because we can never coincide dates). Went to NSCI, the Viceroy.

We sat down at a corner & was pretty peaceful. I had pulled a neck muscle & ended up being pampered by the other five - they literally waited on me head to foot, such great friends, thank you guys!
We ended up spending almost the whole day together - after Brunch (which was pretty good though I didn’t particularly like the desserts) we went to the next place to “relax” with coffee. And then we decided to go shopping together and then we almost decided to do more desserts. Unfortunately by this time, my neck was really not happening so I had to go home. But it was a great great fun day.
Here’s a pic of Prem doing a very politically incorrect impression of a deaf & dumb news signer:
And the rest of us:
DV & Geh
Sonu & Moo
& the pretty girls all in a row!
In other news, went to Crossword today, bought Vikram Chandra’s Sacred Games - albeit for Geh, so will borrow when she’s done - yes, I’m like the kid who bought his grandmother a football ![]()
Also bought Suketu Mehta’s Maximum City and although I can already see my dear Arima shaking her head at me reprovingly (”you’ve not read it yet??”) I’m really excited!

Thanks for the Gondola tip - have never been there, will do, now. I loved Maximum City…but less than Shantaram.

Miximum City is awesome. I love it and Shantaram … better watch the upcoming movie based on it.

Where is the Gondola?

Racoon, I didn’t mean to suggest anyone to go there - the place is mediocre at best. It just has sentimental value for me since it’s been around so long & since I used to frequent it during college.
@ Lancy: If you mean where’s the restaurant, it’s at Pali Market, Pali Hill, Bandra. If you mean where’s the actual Gondola, there’s none at the restaurant (except the figurative one on the restaurant header outside).

Ah, who are all these lovely people? Also….strange as it may sound, we’ve never discussed books! I didn’t know you were a book-lover…we ought to go book-browsing sometime, what say?

Book-browsing sounds lovely! My friend Vijay says it’s a nice way to meet men too, so it should be fun

This would be Vijay of the Pajama fame? I’d ask him along but I’m afraid St will accuse me of wanting to take Vj’s PJs along!!!!
