There’s this guy I know.

He calls me everytime I post a blurred pic here & asks:

Why are there always blurred guys on your blog?? Why aren’t you going out with me & blurring my face??

I think this has something to do with the fact that the first blurred pic on this blog was, yeah you’ve guessed it, his.

But, being the super-nice person I am, went out with him & present to you (ta-dah) my blurred friend:

Blurry-Boy#1 took me to the Sea Lounge at the Taj Mahal for lunch. I love the Sea Lounge - eat there very regularly, the food is good & one can’t beat the view (of the Gateway of India & the sea filled with boats at any given time). The prices are typical five star hotel prices & as such are about INR 600 - 1000 on an average per dish.

While my friend had a Salmon-filled Bagel, I had some very very delicious Lamb Fajitas, which came in an interesting looking apparatus complete with open fire underneath dish to keep it hot. Though I’ve seen them at buffets, didn’t know they had ’single person thingies’ too. Here’s an online recipe for the same.

The recipe says “The inspiration for these fajitas is the gyro, the Greek lamb-filled pita sandwich” & though the meal was accompanied with thin melt in your mouth rotis, there were some very very exotic sauces - which I enjoyed as much as the fayitas!

After our meal, blurry then took me shopping to Heera Panna (yes, my ‘Phone-Hero’ & ‘Blurry-Boy#1′ are the same person) & sorted out necessary things with my phone. Following which we came home in his very pimped up car. Trust me.

Other people who deserve a blurr in my memory include this person - who despite my pleas - tried to sell me one of the Amway-sort networking thingies over a prolonged coffee at Baristas. On the positive side, I admire her persistence. On the negative side, am ready to kill anyone else who tries to sell me stuff like this.
Ok, I may be losing out, but that’s something I’ll live with, ok?

In other news, I went to see ‘The Pursuit of Happyness‘ yesterday.

The movie, which is a period film inspired by the true story of Christopher Gardner, is imo seriously worth the Oscar attention it got. It’s not mind you, a date movie, it’s kinda serious, but it also had a lot of light moments.

If I had to slot it, I’d say it’s one of ‘em “inspirational movies” - it’s about dreaming, about beating the odds, about pursuing ‘happyness’ (yes there’s a reason for the Y) and about not giving up no matter what.

Will Smith & his son Jaden Smith (who play father & son in the movie) were simply brilliant - as was Thandie Newton - who looked astonishingly ordinary (she’s one of the most stunning African American woman I’ve seen!). Definetely a movie worth catching.

I would have posted pics of all who I went out with - we certainly took a ton of pics - but one of the lot present would win a “Shoot me not” contest (if there was ever such a thing) as she insisted (in total celebrity fashion) on not being photographed. She also wouldn’t hear of being blurred. Oh my friends, I tell you!

Since one of my favorite lines of the movie was:

Martin Frohm: What would you say if man walked in here with no shirt, and I hired him? What would you say?
Christopher Gardner: He must have had on some really nice pants.

and since the movie featured a tres cute kiddo, I present to you,

Nice pants & (on extreme left) tres cute kiddo:

In case you’re wondering, I’m second from right. And no, will not say who the others are.

  9. @ St: :D Cheer up! The one on the extreme right may give you some hush money, perps?!!

@ Anon: The last I checked, cocktail waiters in Mumbai do not wear Ermenegildo Zegna suits ;)

  10. He is definently dressed like a cocktail waiter. Melody you need to advice him styling matters.

  11. @ Rahul: I can’t say I appreciate people dissing my friends.
  12. “The inspiration for these fajitas is the gyro, the Greek lamb-filled pita sandwich”

Correct me if i’m wrong but arent fajitas MEXICAN?

  13. @ Oneil: I don’t think you’re wrong, searching online - I found the History and Recipe for Fajitas and I quote:

The fajita is truly a Tex-Mex food (a blending of Texas cowboy and Mexican panchero foods)

On checking the Cooking Light site (where the earlier link is from) I found out that the recipe was catagorised under “CUISINES: Mexican”, so all I can make out from that is that the particular recipe itself must have had greek influences and not the dish in general.

  14. agreed. actually the lamb stuff u prolly had was shwarma or what the greeks call a Gyro (pronounced Yee-Roh)
