Is it only me or is it the scariest thing imaginable - Lalu Prasad Yadav as a future Prime Minister of India?? Yet, according to one of his latest interviews, that’s just what he wants!

The interview which will be aired on NDTV 24×7 at 9.30 pm today has our great Laluji saying the most hilarious things including the line which partially gives me the shivers…

‘I want to become the prime minister for sure. But, I will not quarrel for it. No matter which corner of the country I go, people always greet me, ‘Oh Lalu, aye Lalu.’ It’s the greatest of blessings, people love me.’

Kya bole hum?

Oh Lalu, aye Lalu.

  1. Indian Railways for one has performed commendably under his leadership. The fact is undeniable that Indian Railways was running in loss when Lalu had taken over its responsibility. And Lalu, from the moment he became the Railway minister, has appeared to be “performance oriented”, to say the least. In fact, the IIM-A is studying this success story (the Railway story I mean), and is said to be making a case-study for its future students.

So, I for one wouldn’t shiver if the dude aims higher. After all, he has shown his potential.

Oh Lalu, aye Lalu, eh? :)

  2. Well, who knows? Maybe he could turn around the country like he did with the railways, or he could make it a Bihar Bhavan. 50-50 chances, I say!!! :D

  3. News Channels are going crazy with Laloo’s PM ambition statement….but v v v v v Scary

  4. hey there, as a fellow bandra-ite albeit not in india anymore, just thought i’d pop in and say hello. nicely done blog btw.

  5. i wouldnt have take a chance intially with laloo but after him becoming the railway minister and churning out the profit for the railways in the first year for the first time is historic and seeing that i would wanna take chance . who know ?? right

  6. “Oh Lalu, aye Lalu!” reminds me of that idiotic pepsi chant: “Oh Ha India. Ah ya India!”

  7. I would say Laoo is one of the wise brains of india even though he acts foolish. You see any of his interview; he knows when where to speak in english and what ?
but what he has done to bihar is inrecovrable thats fact !! but after recording profilt for railways; you need to believe he can do go things only if he wants !! :d :D

  8. @ all: :) Sorry, was in kind of a weird mood when I posted this. Don’t really like discussing politics too much (on or off the blog). So since I’ve stated my opinion, will leave it at that. Am glad everyone’s more optimistic than I am though!
  9. There are worse things. Mayawati for example. Lalu at least has (ahem) charm.
