4th place, yes. But honestly after that race, no one, not a single one person can doubt that Schumi was, is and will always be a champion. That he doesn’t give up. Ever. Even if it meant going side-by-side just inches apart from Kimi Raikkonen to get into 4th place.
By that time I would have honestly settled for Schums to beat Button & just get onto the podium. It honestly didn’t make sense to me for him not to be there. If anyone deserved to be on that podium it was him.
All that aside though, it was one fabulous race. If Schumi had to go, this is the way fans around the world appreciate him going, fighting to the very very end. Not to mention, getting the fastest lap of the race. Schums we will always love you.
Back to F1 however, the end of the race seemed like the end of an era. An era where the man in red no longer raced. And where the reigning (back to back!) man in blue no longer will race for blue. And where the man on the top of the podium is wearing… a flag??
Seriously Massa, love your energy, your passion for your country, the way you couldn’t stand still for half a milli-second after winning. It’s like everyone forgot Alonso was the new champion of the world. Or that Schumi would no longer be among them. Or perhaps, like me, they just didn’t want to remember.

It was unfortunate that Schumi had to settle for 4th place
The best moment of the race was when he overtook Raikonnen which really showed his class and fighting spirit !
Like you rightly said Melody, it is an end of an era and it’ll be a long time before someone tries to emulate him in the future …

When did you become an F1 fan??

I think though that every F1 driver will try & indeed, should try to emulate him. Whether anyone can live upto him is another question totally.
@ Mehak: Initially it was SUCH a big blow to everyone I’m sure (the tyre thing) but seeing Schums come right back in.. it was perfection in drama. I only wish he could have also beaten Honda & come to the podium. Still, it was an amazing 4th place victory.
As for next year, it’ll be interesting, to say the least.
@ IC: There are lots of things you don’t know about me

watching F1 will be never the same again for me

But I think because of that it may still be quite interesting (at least I would hope so). Will tune in next year to see how things turn out. Hope it can keep me through the entire season.

Lil late in commenting now… but will make up for it. Forgive me.
Ok, first things first, I’m not a F1 fan. I do not watch races, although I do keep myself updated with the results. However, I am a Schumi fan, and I wish he could have gone off into the sunset with a win. (sigh)
Whatever. Lets see how Alonso does with McLaren (I hope) next year.

Don, don’t mess with Mel

Well, I guess it’s just that Schumi is liked for sentimental reasons. He’s the original F1 champ that’s been winning ever since we know.
And if it was about looks, I’d take Alonso over Schumi any day
. Or perhaps I would have watched some ladies tennis instead.
Don ki comment ko samajhna mushkil hi nahi… naa mumkin hai.. panga lene ka nahi, kya?

Who’re you fooling with the ‘ladies tennis’ bit.. you just want to watch the… erm… men. hmmm.
Don nahi, tum toh Donna hai.
