Some people here have been commenting, that of late I seem to be doing the Page 3 rounds. I resent the “of late” business. After all, have always been a princess, I could have been doing this all my life… and maybe, just maybe I’ve not chosen to display it. No self respecting Page 3-er would.

Then again, I’m not Page 3. But if I was, I wouldn’t choose to display the fact. So there. Humph.

Mention this in advance ’cause I want no smarty pants comments on the next pic taken with my dear aunt Helen, who’s as lovely as ever. I talked to her on Saturday 7th night about the remake of Don and she had very interesting things to say about it… Not going to mention any of it though, some things ought not to be mentioned on the internet :D

Sunday 8th was spent enjoying a fabulous brunch! I think I put on a lot of weight just looking at all the food!! Also managed to drop in and visit both my Godchildren and I must say they’re both looking prettier than ever.

In other news, went to Crossword on the weekend. Decided to be brave, throw caution to the wind and try out a completely new author just for the heck of it. Chose Sophie Kinsella. Why, you ask? Because her books looked fun. (Yes, the concept of not judging a book by it’s cover hasn’t sunk in yet).

The good news is that Sophie’s books can be judged by the covers. They’re fun chicklits. Already finished ‘The Undomestic Goddess’ - a story about a young career minded business woman who is a total wreck when it comes to things like cooking (what’s that?) and other housework. The theme sounded familiar so I thought it’d be fun and it was.

‘Shopaholic Abroad’ also sounded a trifle familiar (though I’m so not a shopaholic, double humph) so bought that one too. Haven’t read it yet but from the intros apparently the ‘Shopaholic Series’ is a huge hit and is even being made into a movie soon. Good for you Sophie.

Finally before I wrap up this post, let me tell you about a giant faux pas I made today in the hope you won’t do the same (am I not too kind for words?!). A shopaholic friend (and she really is, trust me) was going to Heera Panna today. I needed to go to Jaslok Hospital for a meeting so I decided to hop a ride with her.

BIG MISTAKE.

It may look close when you’re passing by in a car, but let me tell you if
* you’re walking on the road,
* in high heels,
* in a suit,
* at 3 in the afternoon,
it’s one LOOOOOOOOONG HOOOOOOOOT walk from Heera Panna to Jaslok Hospital and then back again. Sigh.

Made up by buying a new sticky plastic thingie for the glass on my cell phone. Then thought, what the heck and bought a new leather case for it as well. It’s been a while & my phone deserves it. Need to put my feet in warm water now, so will dash.

  1. I just cant resist. *GOLD* yippppeeeeeeeee!

Helen madam looks as ravishing as ever. If you ever gonna meet her, tell her I’m a biiiiiiiig fan! :)
Yeah yeah, you look good too. :P

//I think I put on a lot of weight just looking at all the food
    Ahem! Ahem! Ahem! ;;)

    Chicklit novels… movin on…

And as for the faux pas… it’s all for your own good. Walking is good for the health. Maybe you even lost the couple of pounds you might have put on on Sunday. :))

P.S Mel, thanks for your last comment on my blog. :) This is so that you’ll overlook the comments here. :P

  2. :-D I was about to ask you “is that actress Helen?” and then I read what you wrote. :-) I loved her performance in the movie Khamoshi. Lovely lady she is.

And hey, thanks a lot for contributing for Aditya. And yes, he needs our prayers too. Thanks yaar and so nice to talk to you after a while.

  3. Bronze :(

    Oh my god!!!…. That’s really HELEN !!!! :-O
My god, what contacts !!! :)

Now I know your secret to look hot ;)
With aunts like her, you have a rep to maintain :D

Btw, Both the baby and the babe look cute!!! ;)

lol on “I think I put on a lot of weight just looking at all the food!!” :))

Tell Helen-jee I’m also a big fan. (bigger than Dev, literally & figuratively ;) )
And plz do share any jhatka secrets that she might have taught you !!! :)

  4. @ dev: See what you’ve done, now Harsha’s all :(

    PS: You’re welcome, meant it!

@ Jo: Yes she is a lovely lady. Most people remember her as a vamp from her movie roles, but in reality she’s a deeply spiritual calm person.

Not yet contributed towards Aditya… but the cause seems a really good one. The other cases on the website touched my heart too… sigh. We really are more blessed than we realise.

@ Harsha: For the record, she isn’t a blood relative. Families just know each other and since I was a little girl, she’s always been ‘Aunt’ Helen (people in Bombay tend to do that - make all sorts of people their ‘aunts’ and ‘uncles’). Earlier on I didn’t know what all the fuss was about her. lol.

Thx for the “Both the baby and the babe look cute!!!” :)

All secrets learned by me (through any source) will only be revealed when necessary… hehehhehahhahahhaha

  5. PS: If anyone is interested to know what Jo and I were discussing, please see post on his blog & check out the website of the Cancer Patients Aids Association to see how you can make a difference. Click on “Help Patients”.
  6. you are like, giving paris hilton competition !! ha ha

  7. @ inexile: Paris Hilton. Yes of course, the sex tapes, the stupid horror films, the silly erotic songs. Yes, I can see me giving her competition.

PS: Just in case you don’t get the dripping sarcasm in my comment (you are a man after all), will spell it out in B&W, it’s not possible for me to be like Paris. Don’t want to - in fact I totally shudder at the thought.

    Like, completely.

  8. Imagining what Helen had to say about the new Don. Things that shouldn’t be said on the internet. “woh lamhe..Kya the?”

  9. Who is Helen? Is she famous?

  10. Such hatred towards Paris Hilton. ssshhhhhh

  11. ha ha ha such hatred !!
    awww

  12. @ SloganMurugan: lol… keep imagining ;) Btw, added you to my blogroll - don’t know why I hadn’t earlier!

@ Rahul: “Who is Helen? Is she famous?”. Well, yeah.

About Paris, I don’t think you can hate someone you don’t know. I just don’t want to be like her.

There are TONS of people I want to be more like in some way or the other (which doesn’t mean I love them) and TONS of others I don’t want to be like in some way or the other (which doesn’t mean I hate them).

@ inexile: Don’t fret… I have a feeling that Paris doesn’t give a rats ass about what anyone thinks about her anyway, which is a good thing isn’t it? :)

  13. I heard It’s way easy to get into Paris Hilton than the Hiton towers.

  14. @ Mario: What should one say to that? That you shouldn’t believe everything you hear? Or that you should try them both and see what the truth is for yourself?
  15. Sophie Kinsella is great fun to read but dont bother reading her other books by her other pen name which is Madelline Kinsella - they’re awful

    noojes

  16. Oops I meant Madelline Wickham

  17. @ Noojes: Thx for the tip! Was actually wondering if I should try them out (saw them mentioned in the back of the books).

Finished both the books. They were good fun chicklets but just that.

Incidentally I saw an advert on the tele the other day (I think on Hallmark… or was it Star World?) for a movie/TV series (don’t know) on her book “Cocktails for Three” by “Sophie Kinsella writing as Madeleine Wickham”.

And just found out online today that it was this author - Sophie Kinsella - who Kaavya Viswanathan copied off - her book “Can you keep a Secret?”. Apparently Ms. Viswanathan “borrowed from” two novels by another author Megan McCafferty (more extensively than Kinsella) and said it was “unconscious and unintentional.”

Read this article by the New York Times for more details & also for a nice graphic on the “similarities” between Viswanathan and Kinsella’s books.
