As usual there’s been so much happening - sometimes I have to remind myself to slow down & catch my breath. Still that’s what I love about Bombay, the fast pace life, the energy, the fact that everyone around you is moving fast, yelling, screaming, running, stressing, partying. Sometimes it gets too much but then take it away & you realise, hey, this is Bombay & I’m a paaka Bombayite .

Started the week off, Monday 21st by what else but being busy busy busy. Was pretty much in the city the whole day & also got to spend time in my favorite hotel (any guesses?):

Tuesday 22nd wasn’t much better except that I got home a little earlier from work. The prayer meeting was great. Jan gave a simple but powerful teaching on the “Fruit of the Holy Spirit” (one of the best I’ve heard). After the meeting went out with Ajay & had Pani Puri off the beach. Got a call from a beau who’s just back from the US of A (hmmm!!) & is sounding as yumm as ever. A good time to be single :)

Wednesday 23rd night went to Chinagate for dinner. Love the food there though I’m not big on Chinese food. The dinner was in honor of Madam Ana who has returned from long holiday (many countries in Europe) & was on a quick stopover in Bbay. True to South Bbay style of course (remember the other one who throws out Ritu Kumars?) Ana was all “Been there, done that” about UK ;) though she enjoyed most other places from what I heard!

Enjoyed the convo as usual - these guys are super - though Prem & I got dubbed as Fuddy & Duddy respectively. Ok then! Finished the night off with dessert & coffee at the Barista on Linking Road. Have a story about that too, but maybe some other time.

Thursday 24th was a fun day. Had two meetings in the city, both of which got cancelled & I found myself happy & bekaar enough to go to lunch at Charni road with Ana & Geh again.

Decided to try the train system - and lo & behold just outside Charni road station - on the bridge actually which one uses to cross over to the other side of the road, was a man lying horizontally. Just as I passed by he decided to exhibition himself. Like Indiana Jones, he quickly whipped out his thing & began furious action.

Luckily at the time I was wearing large cover-your-face dark shades & I just completely ignored him & walked by - I was also on my cell phone at the time (trying to figure out where to go) so it wasn’t too hard. My sis always taught me - it’s best to ignore these types of guys (& crank callers etc) they get pleasure when you react - in whatever way - so the best thing is to pretend you haven’t seen/heard anything.

Incident aside, enjoyed my lunch. It was bitter sweet leaving (had to rush home to do work) because I knew I’d not see Ana for a while. Parting is always such sweet sorrow.

In the night, I enjoyed the grande finale of American Idol Season 5. My personal favorite Chris Daughtry was eliminated two rounds earlier - Simon shared my deep shock. Honestly I think he was the best of the whole lot. I was kinda rooting for Kath to win the season after that (loved her ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’) so Taylor winning was another eyebrows up moment. He does seem like a nice person though. And I agree with Kath, who when interviewed later said she would love to go out with Ryan Seacrest. Boy wouldn’t we all.

Enjoyed all the additional performances - great to see all the finalists again & also all the other biggies - Prince was so totally rocking.

Incidentally am SO TOTALLY listening to Bono (how sexy will this guy always be??!!) & Mary J Blige singing “One” (originally only by U2 on their Achtung Baby album)- I love the lyrics, love their energy - it was SUCH a great (& good) surprise) to hear Elliot Yamin & Mary sing it at the AI final:

You say love is a temple, love a higher law
Love is a temple, love the higher law.
You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl
And I can’t be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt.

After all the AI entertainment, I decided to drop into the JW Marriot (@ Mezzo Mezzo) to wish Noojes on her big 3-0 bday :)

Noo was all :D & in full form! As were the rest of the lot. Had a good time - originally intended to stay for a half hour or so but ended up reaching home only by 2 in the am. Check out the cake a triple X - signifying her age not her mentality (hopefully!). Learnt a few lessons like - “the one thing that makes life worth living is After 8 Gelato” and that musical greeting cards can turn even 30 yer olds into happy 3 year old DJ wannabees ;)

Friday 25th was busy busy busy again. Had the function in Indigo that I mentioned earlier. As a result smoozed with lots of the whos who in the fashion industry (great fun, yeah I can be tres pseudo at times, sue me). Also met up with one french guy who I knew a loooong time ago (around 7 years I think!). Knew lots of french guys then & found myself fantasizing about what a different life I’d have if I was married to cute french guy & smoozing around Paris… aaah!

Came home dead tired & almost didn’t end up going for the late late night show of Poseidon at the IMAX dome. Glad I went though, enjoyed the movie (review following) and the dome (as always). And yes, my girlfriend & I oogled over Josh Lucas (forget the french, want to marry this guy instead) the whole time. He the one from ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ which is also incidentally one of my fav songs & my ringtone for a while now.

So after this busy week I plan to just stay home on the weekend & chill out - plan half accomplished have chilled most of Saturday 26th barring a good 1 1/2 walk I took in the evening. Will end this post now, may read a little before I drop off to sleep. This is the life indeed :)

  1. Me 1st! Before all the legions arriveth! ;-)

Now why is that every time u set foot on the humble mumbai train station all hell breaks loose? Remember the frizzled hair and machipaani? :P

  2. Taj Lands End, I guess, you always mention Taj something.

  3. Jeez, why do I get the impression Mumbai is overflowing with perverts.

  4. hey melody. I was looking forward to seeing ya last Blogger’s meet… it was fun…

  5. Awww Mel Mel Mel
You helped me cross over to the big 3-0
Btw u missed a swell party friday night - wrapped up at 6 15 am :) phew

    Mwah
    noojes

  6. Ahh… I see we’ve been a busy girl this week. *sigh* I wish I was busy this way. I’m too much of an extrovert and sitting at a comp the whole day is not my idea of enjoyment. :(

“Like Indiana Jones”… hmm, I’m sure Ford wouldn’t be too happy if he ever reads this and finds out he’s been compared to that character. ;)

Except for the guy mentioned above, I guess you’ve been pretty much wanting to marry/go out with every guy you’ve encountered this week. Aah, the joys of love (and crushes) :D

  7. @ Alex: Naughty boy - it was you who talked about frizzled hair & maachipani not me!!! And to answer your question, I have no clue why things happen to me when I use the local transportation system. Perhaps I’m safer in my car. And then people call me a snob. Sigh.

@ Mario: Nope, it’s not TLE. Mumbai does have it’s fair share of pervs (suspect all places must have these dudes). I think being a young girl brings them out of the woodwork faster. Though my friend Alex here has had more than his fair share of the same too!

@ Tony: Thx :) Feels good to have been missed. Thinking of organising a special blog meet - for those who read my blog maybe sometime in early July. If you guys respond favorably (i.e. even if there’s like 5 of us, may do it!)

@ Noojes: Mwaaaah back atcha girl! I know I missed the party but at least I got the gelato! Waiting for the update at yer place.

@ Dev: “I’m too much of an extrovert and sitting at a comp the whole day is not my idea of enjoyment” Know exactly what you mean. Why don’t you get out more though? Sometimes when I’m alone & have no plans, I go out & take a brisk walk or something like that.

Think a lot of us bloggers are addicted to the net (in varied degrees) - know I am a little too, get so upset when my net is down.

Lol, don’t think HFord’s gonna be reading this ever in his life, though yeah suspect he wouldn’t be ecstatic!

    And finally:
Except for the guy mentioned above, I guess you’ve been pretty much wanting to marry/go out with every guy you’ve encountered this week.
You know I didn’t think of this until you mentioned it here! Yeah it’s been a fun week. What can I say, sometimes it’s good to be single :)

  8. if someone wanna have peek into the life of “young and happening” of Mumbai….well he juss have to read this post….”this is the life indeed”…it seems u hav been fantasising about ur marriage quite a lot lately…lol

i liked the pic where u are looking from the door…looks like a still from a movie….the small girl with curly hair is sooooo cute…

    that guy was so yuck….yuck…yuck

and yeah if u organise a blog meet…i will be there…hope u organise it after office hours

…and i have written one post after a long time…check it out

  9. The french are known to be the best *kisser* in the world. The French Kiss … u see. So whats your opinion on the Indian guys ?

  10. Oh yes… Chris was my favourite for the title too.. Was so disappointed when he got eliminated… I loved his voice…Reminded me of scott strapp ( Of Creed fame).

  11. @ Sherriff: Lol to the “young and happening” of Mumbai.

I actually was not in the pic at the door. Was standing out waiting for the elevator & these three were saying goodbye when I saw it was SUCH a cute pic, couldn’t resist whipping out my phone & taking!

Good to know at least you’ll be there. Yeah am planning like having a dinner maybe at 9ish or so in Bandra/Santacruz.

Did drop by the blog - Interesting stuff! “Indian Railways have prescribed rules on space required for transporting Cattle…but none for human beings

@ Ravi: Are they?? I wouldn’t know - haven’t kissed any french guys! And what’s my opinion on Indian guys about what, kissing?

lol, can see these headlines… Why do they French Kiss instead of Indian Kiss - VHP & BJP protest.

@ Lothario: Yeah, he was so cool. Can’t believe it till now. He was the best in every show until he got out. Doesn’t say much for the AI voting public!

  12. Last guess, is it Intercontinental Hotel. Also, a lot of AI voters complained that, there was some kind of computer glitch, and the votes that were casted to Chris were tabulated to Katherine. I just think Katherine was popular among the male viewing audience and American Idol had to save her for the finale to keep the ratings for the program high.

  13. “Though my friend Alex here has had more than his fair share of the same too!”

Grrr!! So you wont give up eh!

  14. @ Mario: Sorry not the Intercon either… you not from Bbay??!

@ Alex: HEHHAHAHHAAH HEHEHEHAHAHHAHAH :D Nope, me not gonna give that up… why should I when you’ve been… er… felt up… so often ;) ;) ;) HEHHAHAHHAAHHEH EHEHAHAHHAHAH
