Today was the “Great Bowling Challenge”. Eli had been preparing us for days (over a week actually!) and was all pumped to win.

The players were - have noted our nicks which appeared on screen (what can I say, we’re a juvenile bunch!):
Devdas (Clint)
Cutey (Aly, only because we don’t know her well enough to coin something nasty!)
Grandpa (Eli)
Grumbler (Del)
Aunty (Ajay)
Moley (Me… & pls. don’t ask why)

We were playing for individual high scores & teams scores as well.

I was kinda not sure I even wanted to go bowling - after great difficulty have managed to grow my nails & I had just neatly painted them. Still was persuaded into it all & praise God, did’t break any nails (though will def have to redo the polish).

Anyway back to the game; here is a post game commentary:

It went pretty much as expected - the main & only real competition was between Devdas & Grandpa. Aunty, who has done pretty well for himself in the past proved to be in a sorry condition, losing out even to the Grumbler! There was also lots of action for the last place, especially in the beginning of the Challenge, with Cutey & Moley playing equally badly.

As luck would have it though, Moley soon picked up her game, a couple of great shots & even a strike & she ended just a few points shy of Aunty (Cutey was less than half her score).

Moley was vindicated. Must bring Cutey for future games, she noted to self.

Oops, the brilliant commentator that I am, forgot to say - Devdas won. And the Grandpa-Grumbler team took first place in team.

Now for the winner’s spoils.

The winners were supposed to treat the rest to dinner. Unfortunately for me, Del chose the Gymkhana to have dinner in as there was a “Triple B Night” going on. (The Triple Bs, I’m told stands for Bingo-BBQ and the third could be Booze/Boys/Babes, Geez how ‘creative’ are these guys?).

I was forced into going to prove I’m not a snob - which I’m not - honestly you don’t have to be a snob not to want to attend one of these silly thingies (Bingo!!!! eessh!). Anyway, I had to hear hour long stories from Grumbler to Cutey saying I wouldn’t show up, so I thought it’d be easier to make an hour’s appearance & then move on from there (which is pretty much what we did, so it wasn’t too bad).

Mercifully by the time we reached (the others went ahead of us), all Bingo etc was over & done with & the place looked like a Christmas dance, albiet for the fact everyone was in casual clothes.

The live band was pretty decent & the music was mainly jive & waltz … it was such a total mac scene!!! Aunties & Uncles everywhere, unfortunately many whom I recognized & was forced to go talk to & be pleasant to. Sigh.

Despite myself & despite an incident which occurred on the way to the gym, I actually enjoyed myself a bit. Of course, not enough not to run off at the first chance ;)

Went off to dinner at Independence Café. Had the Chicken a la Kiev (which I mostly have when I go there, they really do a good job) with some fab mashed patato. Recipe here.

Came home & slept. Bowling, pushing (see previous post), weird gym dances & dinner included, it had been a long day & didn’t take much time for me to crash.

Note to all: Am a tad busy this week, but stay tuned, have a great proposal story to share :D

  10. Hey hon!
Its been a while…. good to read that you’re enjoying life. :D Bowling is not one of my fortes either but I go along with hubby dear once in a while.

Cant wait to hear the proposal story - and whether you’ve considered it! :P

  12. @ Lothario: Darn did the Mid-Day get the scoop already??? And here I was trying to keep it under wraps… lol, well am letting the cat out of the bag soon enough ;)

@ Noo: Not fair - you can’t force me to play with you!! lol… glad you’re patient, you may have to wait a while ;) hehehahahahhaah

@ Alex: Yeah darling, it’s not the first one. In fact saw four boys between June 04 & Feb 05, all good in their own way (ok maybe one of them was a tad psycho, lol) but nothing clicked. Haven’t seen any guys since then due to personal reasons but have received several calls & offers to meet, though none of course anywhere as crazy as the one I’m referring to!!

@ dharmu: Firstly girl, you have commented here before (remember my Greek God post, lol?). Secondly, am glad you’re reading my “deadly filled pages” in the office :D Enjoy!!!

@ Mario: Yeah he so totally does! Of course before you commented had no clue who Matt Leinart was, but did a google search on him & he does so much look like Clint!

@ vaishnav: Welcome to my place! Your first time here? The pic’s of the Chicken a la Kiev I wrote about. Recipe’s given too… you just looking at the pictures here, wot? ;)

@ Yash: Lol to the “Hype” thingie! Just was so busy at work this week. Now you guys probably will find the whole story lame…

    @ Nups: HEEEEEEEYYY :) :)

“I go along with hubby dear” Stop showing off!!! Sigh. I guess I should be glad at least some of us girls have hubby dears :) How’s the new married life treating ya?!

  13. Matt Leinart here..I do like to bowl when I get a break from training. Eli didn’t have a clue as to what hit him, it was a no-contest in the end. Melo, you shone in your own right, I’ll have Cutey mentally prepared to take you on the next time. Good show :-)

  14. @ Clint: Heyyaa!! Didn’t know you had this blog url… got it from Eli eh?

Anyway thanks for the “you shone in your own right” bit … hopefully next time I’ll be better prepared to take you on. Ok fine, that’s probably not gonna happen. Sigh.

  15. isnt that band ra gynkhana ka photo ?
