Ok, am not really a big Bollywood person. In fact I never go to a theatre to watch a Bollywood flick - can’t sit for three hours + & watch people run around trees while overacting to inane plots. I’ve always said - Hindi movies are an insult to my intelligence.
The good news is that all that has pretty much changed. (Some of!) Bollywood over the past few years has become intelligent with good movie, good plots & good acting.
What has overcome all the good though is the PHENOMENAL music! I simply love Indian music! It’s really come a long way & so much of the stuff coming out of India is loads better than stuff elsewhere (imho).
Anyway, the reason for this post is that I found this site online where you can download great (& free!) Hindi mp3 music: Indiamp3.com

Just downloaded: Right here right now (the hip hop mix) & Dus Bahane among other songs & they sound great. Enjoy!
While on the topic:
(01) I don’t really think Salman Khan deserves 5 years imprisonment for the Indian gazelles thingie. I can’t understand our system. Manu Sharma walks aways scott free after killing a girl in the presence of multiple witnesses & then they’re sentencing Salu to jail for 5 yrs for this. Not justifying his crime but it’s sad to know this is his fate when the court has freed the four other suspects who’re not Salu type celebs.
I vote they release Salu right now & let him go about his job… Let him dance shirtless in the movies & let his bodyguards rudely shove people in real life. What would Mumbai & Bollywood be without our Salubhai, eh?
Details of Salu’s fate here.

(02) Am praying for John Abraham to get well soon after his bike accident. A kick up the backsides to the money chasing *#W%$(*@&^ police who want to make a case out of the episode when he clearly was in the right. I guess there’s a downside to being a celeb. too.
His first hand account of the incident here.

(03) Lastly, Kudos to Carol Gracias for her composure during the Fashion Week episode. A little late, but then I don’t usually post on happenings like these. Way to go girl.

This is what I have noticed, Good Bollywood movies are generally rip offs from Hollywood movies.

well Judge went overboard while sentencing Salman for five years…cost of being a celebrity and media went bersek with the Carol incident….and yeah Bollywood films have improved a lot…even if they are rip offs from Hollywood….I am a gr8 movie buff…but earlier there were hardly any good movies from Bollywood….now i mostly end up going to a hindi flick

and yeah dont miss “Being Cyrus”…its a cool movie

Hey Melody, you know what’s the difference between Salman and Manu Sharma? The former only had status, while the latter had the power. There’s a marked difference between the two.
So Salman’s the bakra. But if the law says he has to serve the 5 yrs, he deserves to serve it.
I guess the courts just had to redeem themselves after letting Manu walk free, huh?
Finally… this is a bad week for Bollywood. Banaras, Saawan and Shaadi se pehle. Yuck! No English movies this week as well.

About Salman - Well I agree the 5 year sentence is in fact a bit too harsh.l In fact according to me this whole thing is a joke since we all know for a fact that there will now be an appeal and then another and then by the time a final verdict will be read out our grandkids will have to refer to the History Channel to understand what the salman case was all about!!
But hell jokes apart I think Salman deserves a punishment - not imprisonment but perhaps some social work that will help compensate for the loss and perhaps spread awareness of animal welfare!

MeloD the Bachan kid needs a kick for posing with my Heart Beat
apni Chopra Kudi yaar.

Anyways you just left me a comment. Its obviously very late in the night.
How do you get so much done and sleep so little. What is the secret recipe?

Melody, the bollywood movie “Black” was a remake of the 1962 Oscar winning movie “The Miracle worker”. For more info on this movie check the following link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056241/ Also, “The Miracle worker “ was a very successful broadway show before it was made into a Hollywood movie.

@ dev: “the difference between Salman and Manu Sharma? The former only had status, while the latter had the power” seemingly true now. Let’s see what the Khans do…
@ Alex: I was being sarcy abt releasing him to dance shirtless in the movies. Of course he should be punished! But this verdict is a mockery of justice & actually making him look like a martyr rather than a criminal.
@ biju: hehe… not telling my secrets…. oh well… It’s something I learned from Rajiv Gandhi. He used to sleep minimal hours & yet work on optimal levels. Apparently the human body needs less sleep as one ages. The trick is understand that. Of course the entire fundu maybe crap. Perhaps it works now & will kill when older. Poor RG never got to find out. Long live the Gandhis.
@ Mario: Thx! Haven’t seen Black & had a sneaky feeling it was probably a rip off (because of the tremendous good response). Much rather see the original. Thx again!

I think the 5 year sentence is quite harsh, but it probably makes sense given that Sallu is a ‘repeat offender’ - this being his second sentencing for wildlife hunting.

Melody, you may want to check out the disclaimer at the site link you posted - downloading the mp3 files seems iffy.

A few days ago I read an article in the TOI about India’s first ever conviction in a female foeticide case. The doctor got 2 years.
Also read many cases when killers got away scot free….no sentence.
Negligence causes so many deaths on many occasion ( Bhopal gas tragedy, Uphaar cinema, Meerut fair) but no culprits, no accused.
I am not saying that Salman getting a sentence on killing a black buck is wrong. What;s wrong is the irony in our judicial system, when normal poachers get away with bribes…but this guy gets 5 years…
Ridiculous? you bet…

Oh well interesting funda. However in my life when I was young my mom didnt let me sleep long hours and now my wife and baby.
I am hoping that atleast when I get old I can sleep longer
April 13th, 2006 at 8:58 pm
Well, Salu got 5 years for poaching…but he also killed some people while driving his SUV in a rash manner. Since 5 years for poaching seems too much, let us just assume that he got the sentence for both crimes put together. A guy who wants to commit crimes should also have the aukaat to know whether he can get away with it or not before committing it…otherwise he should not commit it. Manu Sharma knew that he could get away with it…so he did it…same holds true for admiral nanda’s son as well…when he killed a few people driving his stupid SUV…Salu was just stupid to not know what he could get away with before committing it.

Happy Easter to one and all!
ps. where’s my easter egg?
April 16th, 2006 at 3:56 pm
Happy Easter to everyone…..
Guess what the best thing happening this week was Australia’s narrow
win against Bangladesh.I would’nt bear the sight of them losing to Bangladesh.
On the Salman issue I think he deserves the 5 year sentence.
No one should be spared for killing poor defenceless animals for pleasure
April 17th, 2006 at 8:19 am
Happy Easter!!
sorry for the delay
April 17th, 2006 at 11:44 pm
Ps: No worries on the disclaimer, just standard stuff.
@ Ashish: Agree with you completely.
@ Biju: lol. When you’re old there’ll be crying grand-babies
@ Mohamed: Understand where you’re coming from, but “let us just assume that he got the sentence for both crimes put together” is just not legally right.
Also, your funda on A guy who wants to commit crimes should also have the aukaat to know whether he can get away with it or not before committing it…otherwise he should not commit it. was very interesting to say the least…!!!!
April 17th, 2006 at 11:50 pm
@ Swb, Van & gps: Thx for the Easter wishes! Van, eggs are at home with me, feel free to drop in
@ Gavin Dunbar: Didn’t catch that match. Though at the risk of alienating my brother-in-law, it wouldn’t do their egos any harm if they had lost though!!

@ Melody: hmm.. tempting, but all that travel for one egg? is it worth it?

Is the egg made up of gold?
April 21st, 2006 at 11:06 am
@ Mario: If it was, it’d be one difficult egg to eat now wouldn’t it? Incidentally, all the Easter eggs (gold & not) at my place are over.
