Maybe it’s that I’m becoming older - or maybe it’s all just getting to me. Whatever it is, 3 parties on a day is just more than I can take. And the fact that they were evenly distributed all over Bbay did not help. Sigh.

The day started off with baby Zay’s Christening.

His father Nel’s been a close friend of mine for almost 10 years now & it was so great to see him so happy! Zay of course is an angel and looked perfectly content (and was fast asleep) despite the huge crowd & loud noise - & the terrible joke-cracking-mc.

Next was Yuni’s Bridal Shower, to be precise, a Kitchen Shower (have attached links for those not familiar with showers). It was also a surprise & it went perfectly - Yuni was completely surprised.

Ended the day with another party. Was looking great (why be modest, this is my online diary right ;) ??) and feeling tres sexy - in essence, I really enjoyed myself. That is, except for all the mangi aunties, one of whom came to see if I was married to my cousin!!! (why is it that you can’t sit down next to someone & have a convo, without people concocting various theories??)

Two of the pyts at the last party (not me!)

  1. THREE parties in one day?!?!?! u are one popular woman!

  2. @ gps: lol… not sure if that’s a good thing anymore though!
  3. hmmm… age does that to ppl ;-)
    lucky i’m still a kid!

  4. DUDE you’re lucky you’re all the way in B’lore - or else this auntie would show you exactly whom not to dis…

It’s one thing for me to imply it. It’s another thing for you kids to say things.

    “age does that”

    HUMPH b-(

  5. Let begin by telling you that you have a pretty neat, cool blog site. Also are you the one on the left side of the pic? If you are, you look different from your other pics( dont get me wrong you look good in all your pictures). And hey what does mangi mean? like mangi aunty.

  6. sorry! :-)

and btw, trust me… Bangalore is not all its hyped out to be. Bombay is way way way way way better!!

  7. @ Rahul Glad you like the blog. I’m not either of the girls in that pic… sorry, should have mentioned (will do so now)! If you check the “Posts with Pics” catagory, you’ll have a fair idea of what I look like.

Mangi is colloquial for “Mangalorean” (like Guju is for Gujarati). Mangi aunts are the type who insist you get married by the time you can breathe ;)

@ gps: Will forgive you ;) and on the B’lore thing, have been told that already from others. What can I say? I’m happy to be in Bbay!

  8. Bridal shower and kitchen shower “WOW”, I never knew these kind of ceremonies existed. Once again pretty informative stuff in your blog. Hey my Mangi aunties are not that bad, may be it is the “bombay mangi” aunties you are talking about.

  9. u better be happy that u in bbay… i sure do miss the city.

  10. @ Mario: Showers are pretty much like Spinster (what is now called Bachelorette) parties. They’re pre-wedding parties - just an excuse for the girls to meet up & fun fun before the wedding.

Glad you find the blog informative :)

As for the Mangi mangis & the Bbay mangis - know lots of both… lol. The other communities are equally bad. Maybe it’s just an age & sex thing - if you’re a girl & my age (& unmarried) then you’re done for ;)

@ gps: You could always come back, you know?

  11. not with the kind of work i do :-)
