Had early meeting at the Taj. Decided I was never going to make it by car, so would take a train (!!) (was late anyway, but that’s another story). Finished meeting at lunch time & decided to call it a day (could do rest of stuff from home, me thinks).

It’s a lovely day, so I decide to WALK from Regal to Churchgate. Hmmm. Let it be noted, I am not a train traveller. To add to that my little walk was in the heat of our dear Mumbai Sun (which smartly, I did not think of earlier). I was also wearing very un-sensible-for-strolling high heel shoes. Especially when you take into account that the whole road leading upto Churchgate (from Eros) turned out to be dug up. Brilliant. Just brilliant. Here’s what my adventures cost me.

Wearing out high heel shoes: INR 2500/-

Fatigue, pollution = medical bills: INR 3800/-

Becoming blacker = Fair & Lovely Creams, 2 Nos: INR 200/-

Walking through Junta Party at Churchgate Station = 10 Deos: INR 4000/-

Possible loss of life from hanging outside train (kids, don’t do this without trained supervisor) = stress = additional medical bills: INR 10500/-

Worry caused by realising I can’t pronounce most stations on the list = more stress = more bills: INR 5000/-

(Added later, by request) Cost of Ladoos bought to pacify cowboy-esq gentleman friend (who followed train in car to rescue me ;) ) and his driver… and eventually the cop who was harrassing them to move: INR 35/-

Fun gained by entire adventure & thanksgiving to friend who rescued me out of train & into AC car and finally home safe & sound in a Merc (fine, sue me for enjoying it): Priceless.

If you’re wondering why I added this post to the “Places to see in Mumbai” Cat, it’s because the local trains are definetely worth the visit, whatever the cost :D

To end, I thought it was important to mention that I wasn’t molested by any train-perverts (apparently they all only target my dear Alex ;) )

  1. Well what about services rendered and payment in cash only… ride in car with a/c one free lunch at the taj

  2. What about the ladoos you got me… no picture of that ??? how sad

  3. There there… see what a nice girl I am, I added a ladoo ka picture only for you…

And when one says “Priceless” it means there’s no value to such services. How about a “Thank you” instead?

  4. *Makes notes*

High Heel Shoes = Clumsy gait, wobbling around like a klutz.

U required 10 deos!! = Are you sure it was the junta or perhaps one of those numerous machiwallis spilled some “Machi Paani” on you? Whatever ! U must have been really stinking! Hmm

Stress and Hanging out of train in wind = Frizzled hair standing on end like you got a 10 mln volt shock or something!

Add to it the fact that you were so tanned you needed 2 packs of Fair and Lovely!!

Well considering the above it would take a really PERVERTED pervert to dare to lay his hands on you. You see perverts have taste too! ;) LMAO!!

    :p :p

  5. Looks like a master card ad kinda post(well thats obvious) :-)

Though i m not sure if u really used up all those accessories that u mentioned in the post, and if u did while walkin, u must’ve looked like a beauty parler on high -heels

** my version of a Poetic License :)

  9. Wow! Didn’t know that my daily commute to work was worth INR 40,000!

Must auction it on Ebay and retire after a couple of months.

  10. Slogan, was how much I spent, not how much I earned ;)

  14. Thx Rohit :) Cya around!
  15. Wow - poor you bought “Fair and Lovely” skin cream to become lighter! Aren’t you a racist! Hope someone rejects you because of your skin color. By the way, NO amount of that cream will make your color white enough. Some of the folks here in India are so superficial. And, by the way, there are MANY better hotels than the Taj (which is not bad at all) - you just have not traveled enough!
