What can I say about the floods?
That Mumbai’s in an unbelievable state? That many of my friends spent days (as we found out later) stuck in their offices or cars or in trains? Or that many walked home ridiculous distances wading through chin high waters? That all at Tabor spent 48 hours in the pouring rain on the (single aluminium sheet) roof while everything was washed away in the roaring river?
What can I say that hasn’t been said a million times on every news channel… that Mumbai’s a mess. And that the people of Mumbai are weeping…

Hey, Melody
I know its too late to write about this but i can’t keep my hands off the keyboard. I really liked the sensitivity and concern in your piece and thats what made me write this.
I don’t think its the first time that we are seeing Mumbai suffer the way that it has in the post-flood scenario and it certainly won’t be the last time unless someone gets rid of our unconcerned and merciless politicians who have occupied the seats of power only to enhance their bank balances.Mumbai is not the only victim of this ruthless game. Most states in India have similar uncovered and heartbreaking stories.
I think its time(or is it too late?) for every citizen of this motherland to wake up to such realities and take action.Cos if we don’t then who will? Enough of complaints now. Lets do something worthwhile to bring back the smiles on the faces of innumerable children and youth who have been affected by 26/7/. Is’nt Mumbai supposed to be the city of dreams and endless possibilities?
YES, Let us all unite to give hope and light to others.I am so ashamed that I have written so late but I have been busy as I am a student of T.Y.BMM(Mass Media) currently pursuing Journalism as a career.Your writing was that of a true Mumbaite(very passionate) and more importantly a true citizen of India.I have a few friends of mine too who were stuck for hours and days together in the floods. Feel free to write more as I would be eager to read and express my views on anything under the sun.
Regards,
Joe, if its easier to recall now
