The retreat was fabulous. Spent six days (8th -13th) in silence, thinking, meditating, praying. God really is amazing.

Every year before my birthday, I look back at my life & thank God for all the blessings I have received. It’s amazing this year, having had SO much time to spend with Him, that I got to go through TONS & tons of memories I have. I surprised myself by the things I remembered!

I believe our minds are perpetual store houses of memories - we don’t forget, we just bury thoughts. And if we can bring them back to our conscious minds, it’s like living them all over again :) It’s also a great way to heal old wounds and also to thank & praise God for all the blessings He’s given us (regardless of what we considered them at that time).

Psalm 37:7, Psalm 46:10 “Be Still and Know that I am God”

  1. I have never been for a silent retreat…do they have preaching of the Word during this silent retreat? & where exactly are these silently retreats held?

  2. Derek - they did have a bit of preaching at this retreat (though every silent retreat is different). The last silent retreat I went for, there was no preaching - just a bit of “interview” in the morning for about a 1/2 hour (was discerning my vocation then).

The first one was by appointment only. The second one (which I’ve just done) conducted by Fr. C. Saldanha. He usually has it in Vinalaya (Andheri) though he had one in Khandala in May as well. Next one’s in Sept. Only for the serious ones though.

  3. Thanks so much for da info.

  4. You’re most welcome. Mail me if you’d like Fr. C’s contact details.

  8. @ Veena: By your surname in your email address, I take you to be Catholic.

The silent retreat is based on meditation and stillness in front of the Lord. The address & telephone nos at where the retreats are held is my reply to Stavio in comment #6

Alternatively you may do a retreat at Ta bor Ash ram, every Sunday to Wednesday - visit their website for more details.

I have found out through personal experience that the best way to get peace is to go to the Peace Giver. May you be blessed.
