Am going for a Silent retreat from the 8th - 13th (no talking for 6 days!!), so won’t be blogging for a bit.

Will be praying for the people of London who have had an unbelievable two days… ecstasy over winning the bid to host the 2012 Olympics to the agony of today’s bomb blasts.

Is it a ‘coincidence’ the blasts are on the same days as the G8??

I’ve just seen the very moving scene of Tony Blair, backed by several world leaders, including all those in the G8 and many others such as our very own Manmohan Singh.

“It is particularly barbaric this has happened on a day when people are meeting to try to help the problems of poverty in Africa and the long term problems of climate change and the environment.

“Just as it’s reasonably clear this is a series of terrorist attacks, it’s also reasonably clear, that it is designed and meant to coincide with the G8.”

and then the clincher:

“Whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and in other civilised nations throughout the world.

God bless England.

God bless us all.

  3. Had a lot of thoughts on this one….even tried posting them here…..but there seemed to be some error with your commenting system. Nothing to say except that this really is a sad thing!

  4. Alex, did you hear about the man shot in the tube today? He was apparently “Asian”… and there were more bombs, more madness.

What is happenning in the world?

  5. I read that…..sad but because of the irresponsible behaviour of some an entire community will have to suffer.

In fact there was an eyewitness who described the man shot as appearing to be a Pakistani. I wonder……was it that he really looked like a Pakistani or was it more a presumtion.

  6. Yes exactly Alex… my friend who’s been in the UK for the last two years says the racism has become unbearable - in fact she’s coming back next month.

Things like this can only serve to add fuel to an already disastrous fire.

I believe the only thing (& definetely) the best thing we can do is pray. With God all things are possible, impossible as they may seem to us.

  7. Sad really……the latest is that the person shot was innocent and even more surprisingly he was a Brazilian!!

  8. Get this Alex - HOW WEIRD IS THIS….. The guy was my age & was cousin to Alex…
