Melody on June 26th, 2005

Started off with the usual 10am Mass (though Jan played this Sunday). Next Sunday starts Confirmation Classes - and Andy gave me the amazing news that I’m to be with him :) Can’t wait to start classes - am sooo buzzed about it.

Afterwards went to visit Grandma, who’s back from a long trip to Atlanta. Got to see my cousin Tammy’s wedding pics finally - she really looked pretty!

Evening went to see “Beauty, Brains & Personality” at St. Andrew’s Auditorium. Tried not to have too high expectations (as I’ve been disappointed the last couple of plays) and it turned out pretty nice.

The play had a few good laughs - here’s an excerpt:
Beauty (on phone with Doctor): “Who’s the father? There is no father… she was insulted”
Brains: “That’s Inseminated

I was (unfairly, me thinks!) compared to the ‘Beauty’ of the piece - not because I’m so beautiful (that wouldn’t have been so bad, she was really Gorgeous) but rather because she thought she was all “that”… hmmm. Why would I need enemies?

After the play, we drove around for a while trying to decide what to do next (arguing amongst ourselves really) amidst singing loudly in the car - we finally ended up at Not Just Jazz by the Bay, all pumped up to try out our vocal chords in public :D

The last time I’d been to the Karaoke night, I wasn’t allowed to sing (!) and about two / three times before, the compere very conviniently “lost” my slip (I smell a rat…)

This time however I was on a mission. Sing I must :))

While one of my erstwhile friends sang ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane’ (& he was pretty good too), I chose ‘I Will Survive‘ Have always loved the song - sang it at my parent’s Silver Wedding (pretty much towards the end, around 3am, when no one sober was around) and haven’t tried it since, so thought I’d give it a go.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified… ok not quite, but there was a tad bit of stage fright. That of course left me the moment I started singing. I sang, I danced, I thoroughly enjoyed myself (don’t know about anyone else) :D

The compere (who, I must add, was really cute) said something like “Her name is Melody and she is just pure Melody” after I finished & I also got me a great round of applause, so was quite trippin’ (hey hey…….)

~*~

Ended the night a lil badly cause mum was furious I was home so late….

Well, maybe I had forgotten to tell her I was going out after the play as well… surely that was to be understood??? Mothers, I tell ya!

Am going to give up partying for a while. Had anyway been toying with the idea for a while - now think I might as well get some brownie points out of it!

Don’t watch this space. Nothing interesting more to come.

    ???

Thanks for the compliment about the singing…

  2. Yes, that’s a friend who announces that his friend is in the LOO to a crowded room of strangers on a MIC before singing his song…
