Say the words “See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil” and one is likely to conjure up an image of three apes…

On Sunday, I had the dubious pleasure of watching apes (albeit of a human kind) doing similarly silly things at Paritossh Painter’s play (titled the same thing) which was playing at Rang Sharda, Bandra on the weekend.
First up, the play stars Nigaar Khan (see below in pic with co-star Pooja Ghai)

Now since I don’t watch Hindi TV (or much of English TV for that matter), I had no clue that both Nigaar Khan & Pooja Ghai are established TV actresses. In fact, I thought Nigaar Khan was Nigar Khan (yes, sue me) of the “deportation” fame… (thx Rishi for pointing out she was sent back to Norway & not Portugal!)
(Nigar Khan)
Well, Nigar or Nigaar, the play couldn’t have been more silly- to quote my friend “it was like a school play” (modesty overtook a little later & suggestions were made that certain school plays were better).
I intensely dislike slapstick & overacting (both of which was in abundance). The play wasn’t a total disaster however - the hearing-impaired Aditya (Paritossh Painter) and the speech-impaired Manav (Jayesh Thakkar) did a brilliant job at getting the laughs (Thakkar simply shone during the play) & even had me laughing out loud several times!
It’s not exactly theatre at it’s finest… in fact it’s quite terrible really - but it still makes for a fun evening out, which is exactly what we had.
Finished off the night with a quiet buffet at Citrus, Leela.
Now on to the long week ahead…

Miss Melody,
I saw the play too, and it was fun. Just as you also admit. however grudgingly. Don’t grudge having fun, whichever form it is coming to you. And if you don’t know your television stars, it’s your problem.Don’t grudge them their stardom. These actors work as hard, if not harder, than you. If you cannot appreciate their efferts, atleast don’t shoot them down for trying to entertain the likes of you - who, obviously makes it their favorite pastime to grudge everybody, EVERYTHING!

I dont know why sunita is being so defensive. If nigar khan was in the play no matter how good it would ahve been i would have given it a thumbs down. She just plainly sucks. Droping her clothes down the rampway nad acting it was accidental , yeah ok how many time though. I think everyone has a right to opinion on whatever or whoever it is. If so then you must direct your thoughts to all the critics who are always bashing people up for thing they do and things they shouldnt have done.
