Ana and some other naughty hens :)

Published by Melody under "Dear Diary" type entries

Was I just grumbling about sleep deprivation? It was ALL WORTH IT.

The cake was great (very very much what I had ordered for, after much explanation ;)) The gifts & games were excellent (all done by Gehna, with a touch of poetry) and we REALLY hassled poor Ana into doing hilarious things.

The “PIȃE DE RɓISTANCE” [and I do mean it] was REALLLLLLY Fabulous :)) Can’t record all details here though :))

Finally after over two hours of pure FUN (7pm - 9pm) the boys joined us. We then played some more (sober) games and finally retired to Ana’s in house terrace for some lounging, pizza and fabulously funny stories (though most of Deven’s were highly disputed ;))

All in all, was one heck of a hen’s party :)

Be warned: This is a rant of loong days & no sleep…

Published by Melody under "Dear Diary" type entries

Thought that after my late night I’d get some sleep, but it didn’t happen. Got up early & went to Holy Mass with my parents as usual.

Then as [as is our newest habit] we visited both the Grandmums one after the other.

Following which home … sleep?… yeah right.

First had one visitor reg. some work. Then a family came over to adopt Stacie (Snoop’s pup). We finally gave her away as a birthday present to the little boy Kunal. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Then Dillon decided to pop in for a bit. Great, it’s been ages. And he chooses today.

By which time, I was too tired to even sleep (not that I had too much time anyway - Gehna said she’d pick me up at 5.30pm). I did manage to sneek an hours bed rest - couldn’t really sleep because I thought I’d overdo it.

Finally managed to shower, change etc etc. and get ready. And then Gehna was late. By over AN HOUR.

GRRRRRR.

Ana’s Puja & Haldi Ceremony

Spent the day today between buying books at St. Paul’s, ordering cake ;) for the Bachelorette Party tommorow (which in itself took a year), finding a good guest book for the wedding & attending the Pujas & Haldi ceremony at Ana’s house.

And since I didn’t mention in yesterday’s post, Ana’s looking incredible! Judge for yourself:

Two to Tango…

It’d been a while, so I decided to take in a play. Running at Sophia was Rael Padamsee’s “Two to Tango” starring Tanaaz Currim, Vinay Jain, Dilnaz Irani & Digvijay Savant.

It consisted of four short single act plays. Was very enjoyable & Ajay & I were in splits most of the time. Unfortunately the woman in the last play was somewhat (just a tad) like me & Ajay decided to harp on how like her I was…. geez… just because I correct his English… what’s a girl to do???

Incidentally, we went on Ajay’s bike rather than taking the car & due to the new rules, we both had to wear helmets :) Ended up looking like this:

Dinner with Deepak

A perk I have at work is that I get to meet many famous people - actors, models, presidents & heads of state - loved Bill Clinton :)), sportsmen etc etc.

Today I got to meet & hear Dr. Deepak Chopra - He was down from the States & gave a private talk to the Birla family (& a few of the Ceo’s from the Birla group) at the ITC Grand Central.

He spoke to us for about 2 1/2 hours and it was all very general. At the level at which he spoke, I agreed with almost everything he said. Un-doubtedly had he to continue, it would not be so, as he is an advocate of Yoga & Transcendental Meditation.

I am however someone, who can listen to a purely secular love song & hear Jesus singing to me. Or see Biblical parallels in anything from a secular newspaper clipping to a obscure event. As such, I had a really spiritual time as Deepak talked about “Health being more than the absence of disease”.

I’ve always maintained (quote me on this!) that the “only thing that’s ultimately important is one’s relationship with God”.

I’m convinced that this evening was a little gift from God to me in the middle of a stressful set of days.

Here’s a pic of Deepak & me (ext. right, pls. excuse my wide grin):

Please note again: Dr. Deepak Chopra advocates Hinduism & is a dubbed a New Age Guru, and in NO WAY am I supporting his work through this post. There are LOTS of things I disagree with him on.

I just believe that God can - and will use anyone to reach out to us - and this time He used Deepak. And I praise Jesus for that.

All you want to know about Dr. Deepak Chopra; good & bad - here

Raising Helen

Published by Melody under Movie Reviews or Related

I had another great evening, but thanks only to the company & not the movie.

Ok, granted, it’s rather unfair to do a review of a movie one has only seen half of… But the truth is, that it was dull. Rather boring even.

We had travelled all the way from Fame (Andheri) to Inox (Nariman Point) -talk about Mumbai Darshan - and it really wasn’t worth it.

Helen (single, happening career woman) is enjoying her life when suddenly her sis dies & leaves her in charge of her three kids… which is particularly distressing to the middle sibling (Joan Cusack) who’s a mum par excellence (or so we should believe)… Fine so far - one would imagine lots of laughs possible.

But help. Even the guy from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” (John Corbett) who was the romantic interest “Pastor Dan”, couldn’t pull in the laughs - am I mistaken… was this NOT supposed to be a romantic COMEDY???

It was already really late - we went for the 11.45pm show (!) so decided to cut our losses & head home.

Let Helen raise herself I say.

Not just boona in Mbaii…

Published by Melody under "Dear Diary" type entries

Had a great time at Not Just Jazz By the Bay. Sunday’s Karaoke night & was persuaded to sing, luckily the anchor lost my card :D So did save all those souls from hearing my voice.

Ended our rather late (early) time at ‘Bade Miyan’ eating “boona & rotis” :)

Of Guitars & Parties…

Published by Melody under "Dear Diary" type entries

I bought my dad a really amazing guitar some time back… unfortunately he hasn’t being playing it.

Anyway, carried it to Mark & Angela’s for the NY Brunch - where several guys played it. And also carried it (by request) to Anand & Jean’s place. I hadn’t been to their place in a while - always something that popped up - and I was glad to get a chance to meet everyone again. Had a great party. Sang wayyyy into the morning, until it was 3am. Considering I have a conference on, that’s really bad behaviour. No more partying during conferences!
